The St. Mark Ministry for Maturing Adults is up and running. This ministry at our parish will address the needs of our Boomers, Builders, and Elders as their lives change.
And we know that maturing adults increasingly find that certain needs become apparent in the second stage of life. Some of these needs include:
•The need for meaning and purpose
•The need for love and relatedness
•The need for spirituality
•The need for forgiveness
•The need for a more genuine practice of faith
•The need to cope with losses
•The need to be useful
•The need to be thankful
•The need to prepare for dying and death
This ministry has been created to serve you. The Steering Committee is anxious to get started. Some of the early offerings will include:
1.An “RCIA refresher course”
2.An MMA Book Club
3.Service and assistance programs for our parish’sElders
4.An opportunity to come together with others to write your “spiritual autobiography”
5.A Foster grandparent program
6.A “dynamite” social gathering
We will soon announce the date for a kick-off event that will include a talk about “The Spirituality of Aging”, a discussion about the programs that will be offered in this first phase, an opportunity to share how you need to be served, and how you might want to volunteer.
Please pray for this ministry and pay attention for your invitation to our MMA Kick-Off Event.
